Dial for Denon & Marantz

Privacy Policy

Effective 9 October 2026

Dial doesn't collect any data about you. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and nothing you do in the app is sent to the developer.

What Dial connects to

Your receiver

Dial controls your Denon or Marantz receiver over your home network: power, volume, what's playing, browsing and searching radio and podcasts, and your HEOS Favorites. Searches and the stations you choose go to the receiver, which fetches them from TuneIn and HEOS in the same way as when you use Denon's own app. Those services are run by their owners under their own privacy policies.

Dial asks for access to your local network only to find and control receivers on it.

Artwork

To show station, show and track artwork, Dial loads the images from the addresses the receiver gives it, mostly TuneIn's servers. For favorites without artwork, it asks TuneIn for the station's logo by the station's ID. These are ordinary web requests: like any website, those servers see your device's IP address, but Dial sends nothing about you with them.

Apple Watch

Dial on Apple Watch works through Dial on your iPhone. The two exchange what's playing and your commands directly, using Apple's connection between your watch and phone.

What stays on your devices

Dial keeps a few settings on your devices: receivers you added by address, which receiver is selected, and your chosen colour. They aren't sent anywhere, and deleting the app deletes them.

Siri and Shortcuts

When you use Dial with Siri or Shortcuts, Apple processes your request under Apple's privacy policy. Dial receives only what it needs to carry out the command, such as the name of a station to play, and passes it to your receiver.

Purchases

The free trial and the purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. Dial learns only whether the purchase or trial is active on your Apple Account; it never sees your payment details.

Crash reports

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with the developer. You can turn this off in Settings, under Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements.

Children

Dial collects no data from anyone, children included.
